Lurke's Story
I joined IMVU to enhance my social skills. I’ve always had mild social anxiety, and I wanted to find a way to slowly overcome it. Back in 2022, a friend recommended IMVU to me, and I decided to give it a try. It turned out to be really nice because you can genuinely socialize and interact with different people.
At first, I only had a bit of knowledge about the platform, but as I explored, I discovered more and found myself going on my own little adventure. That’s when I came across WOC and, more recently, streaming.
I joined a few chat servers just to observe quietly and even now, I still find myself doing that. But despite staying in the background, I met a few people who became friends. I even met someone who showed me a kind of warmth that quietly turned into something more than friendship.
Along the way, I also heard comments that I seemed snobbish. The truth is, I’m not. I just struggle with conversations and sometimes don’t know how to respond. My social anxiety makes it hard for me to initiate or carry a conversation, even when I truly want to.
Until now, I’m still working on it. I’m still trying to cope, grow, and slowly push myself out of my comfort zone. And I hope that one day, I’ll reach a point where I won’t hesitate to start a conversation first.
