Why we choose Lung and Male Cancers.

RinnyRin's reason to start with lungs and men?

It feels like every year I lose someone to Cancer, and particularly Lung Cancer. We lost my husband’s grandmother, around 2021 and his mother a few years later. I lost a best friend to it as well. It feels like, at least one person, gets it and I’ve yet to have someone survive it.

It sounds horrible.

Imagine your lungs, slowly giving out… slowly destroying you internally.

When I discovered that November is not just “No Shave” but also Lung cancer, I knew we had to make it MetaMuse VU’s first Cause we support.

I shared some facts here, to show you, cancer is still deadly. It’s true we’ve come a long way… but we have a ways to go.

Chemo is rough. In fact, my husband’s grandmother did it once and said she’d never do it again. She still smoked a cigarette until the day she died. Her daughter smoked 5 packs and that was down from 10 a day. I wish I was lying.

As we talk about cancers and their effects on people, we ask that you honor this space. We ask that you read with positive intentions and understand that our Musers, EMusers and people sharing their stories,  have gone above and beyond for this. We wanted to share what this means to each of us, and doing that can be vulnerable and scary.

Our Goal here at MetaMuse VU Magazine is to speak to the person behind the keyboard and the avatar.
