Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS)

MetaMuse Magazine was inspired by Mrs. Ruger, during our Runway for a Cause: Awareness Runway. After getting to know her and working with her, we were ecstatic to use Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) as our awareness for May. Its symbol is the Zebra. Each Zebra has its own stripes, every stripe is unique and beautiful, just like those loving with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS).

Her Interview with us

What is it like being a creator? (for you.)

To be honest I love being a creator. Being able to create clothing/rooms/accessories where no 2 are alike is a dream come true. Now i not gonna say its all roses cuz its not. There worrying about sales, keeping your market items up and infront of prespective buyers. The out lay of credits and maintaining your tier level just to name a few. But the happiness and excitement never wears off. So i cant imagine what i would do on imvu if it wasnt for creating.

What are the pros and cons of being a creator?

I will start with the pros of creating. Its the thrill when you see someone wearing your creations. It's the feeling of being proud cuz you made that outfit. Its knowing nothing is given to you unless you work for it. You hold your shop in your hands, you push your products, you get models to advertise for you and you work every day to learn something new. As far as cons go, and I hear this a lot from new creators, it costs too much or i not getting any sales. Well until you build your clientele up its gonna cost you. But once you get established as a creator the sales will maintain your creating.

How long have you been creating for?

That's such a funny story i been creating for about 9 1/2 years. I use to set up clubs and thought wow this is awesome. Then i asked my creator friend to make me some pieces for my club. Well i guess over time she got tired of me asking her and she said No you gonna learn and so a creator was born of time patients frustration and achieving a goal. She taught me just the basic how to do hair. OMG i hated hair I wanted rooms and clubs so i started on my own and the rest is history.

Anything else you wish to share?

The one thing that I would like to share is: Be yourself, Be kind, Be helpful, Be understanding. In my eyes we are all equal in so many ways. We all have our own demons to fight but remember there is a human behind the avitar and computer screen. We are not bots we come from all walks of life we should learn to accept the difference and proceed with the positive.

Our history

What inspires your creations?

Everything inspires me from the colors of the outdoors to the colors of the fruit hanging from the trees. When creating you have to understand anything is a texture so everything is a possible creation. I love seeing what an outfit will look like when completed but seeing a model stream it encourages me more to create and to reach for higher heights. How can i make it different how can i put my spin on it but what's more how can i make it stand out.

If you do runway shows, have share you experience.

I have done many runway shows and even walked in them. It is an undertaking and one that i enjoy doing. I have shared my experiences and even coached on how to make the runway stand out. Its an exciting time for both the creator and for models that showcase the products and wear them proudly. Runway is about everyone, from the person with the vision to the last picture taken.

What is one thing you'd tell to new creators?

There has been many new creators come to me and ask I don't think I can do this. One of my responses is never give up until you given it a fair chance. We all make mistakes and I know i hit the X button a lot, but if you have a passion for fashion and you take the time, you to will be successful.

How do you feel, IMVU treats you as a creator?

Since I been creating, IMVU has always treated me fairly. With anything, including life things change some for the good and some far the not so good but its the passion of creating that drives me. As you know IMVU is evolving ever growing and changing, We as creators, also have to evolve, grown and adapt to the changing times.
